The Beauty of Hospitality

Experiencing the love of God by means of genuine, sacrificial hospitality is one of the most beautiful gifts in the Christian life. Feeling seen, heard, prioritized, and no burden at all to those hosting and serving you truly displays the humble servanthood of Jesus. Getting to live life with other believers, who have their own battles, good and bad days, and daily worries, brings a joy unlike anything else because you are brought into their perspective. You have the privilege of seeing what an evening looks like through the eyes of another image-bearer of God, and it causes you to consider your own life, both the incredible blessings and mercies God has poured out to you, as well as the shortcomings that are still yet to be sanctified.

Sharing a meal with another brother or family allows you to share fellowship with faithful adults and little children, who are being raised up in the way of the Lord, but still cracking jokes and living care-free lives because of their beautiful innocence. Having tea and chatting about life, confessing things to one another and encouraging one another to keep running the race with endurance, looking to Jesus as our prize and possession and true treasure of life.

Hospitality brings the body of Christ together in a way that strips any preconceived answers or responses to questions, and allows raw, vulnerable believers to consider who God is and what He has done in the context of a warm, loving, Christ-exalting home.

We are called to show hospitality to one another and to do so without grumbling or complaining. How impactful it is to be a recipient of godly hospitality, which convicts me towards a desire to serve others in the same way. Here is my question for you today:

How hospitable is your heart and your home towards others who need a safe place to experience the love of Jesus?
