A Father’s Evening
The final call comes to an end,
I log my hours and click my pen,
Pack up the bag and walk downstairs,
Thoughts flood my mind as I shift my cares.
From clients to family my focus turns,
Joy overflows as I await hugs firm,
Pushing cars and reading books,
Winding down at home is where I look.
Giving my love a kiss on the cheek,
And hearing our boy laugh and shriek,
These are the reasons I leave in the morning,
To come back and feel God’s love overflowing.
We rest our heads and close our eyes,
Temptations of anxiety begin to rise,
But God has purposes greater than mine,
And I can trust His guidance will be faithful and kind.
